How it works

How a prediction is made.

Monition reads the public record every day, forecasts which companies will need counsel and when, finds the partner with a way in, and drafts a note the partner sends. Five steps. The last two decisions are always your firm’s.

The five steps

Read, predict, trace, reach, introduce.

Each step shows its evidence. Nothing moves to the next one without a reason you can check.

01 · Read

Every public record that can move a company, read every day.

Monition reads court dockets, company and charges registers, property registers, annual accounts and regulator notices. Each record keeps its source, date and reference, and is linked to every company it mentions.

Gives you
A feed of records, each tied to the companies it touches.
Who decides
No one needs to. Nothing leaves Monition at this step.
Read · the records feed, newest first, each tied to the companies it mentions.1

02 · Predict

A forecast before any filing names the company.

New legal work is usually preceded by smaller signs: a customer that fails, a lender that takes new security, accounts that arrive late. Monition links them across sources and forecasts the matter, the practice and when it is likely to arrive. Every forecast shows its reasons, so a partner can check it in a minute.

  1. 1No filing names it yetThe company is not a party to any case. The screen says so, and the forecast is marked as one everywhere it appears.
  2. 2Leading signalsEach one is a public record with its source and date. Five here; the earliest is seven months old.
  3. 3StrengthStrong, moderate or early, from how many independent signals agree. Never a percentage.
  4. 4Expected timingA range, not a date: two to four months here. It is what the forecast is scored against.3
  5. 5What would confirm itThe records Monition keeps watching for. If one appears, the forecast is confirmed.
  6. 6Way inThe partner with the shortest path to the company, found in your own CRM, and the conflicts state.
  7. 7Drafts cite records onlyA draft can quote the public records. The forecast itself never leaves your firm.

Forecast · Coldbrook Refrigeration, a supplier whose biggest customer filed. No filing names Coldbrook itself.1

02 · Identify

When a record already names the company, Monition says what it means.

A lease listed for rejection, a lien recorded, a rule that names a brand. Monition reads what the record means for that company, which practice it falls to and how strong the evidence is.

Strong· 4 records1–3 moCleared

03 · Trace

One filing reaches many companies. Monition follows it.

A bankruptcy reaches landlords, suppliers, lenders and buyers. A proposed rule reaches producers and retailers. Monition maps who each record reaches next, and in what order.

Uses
Creditor lists, charges, leases, producer registers and the links between companies.
Gives you
A map of who is affected, by role, with the day each one appeared.
Who decides
Nothing is sent. The map is for your team.
Trace · who the Garnet Grill case reaches, by role and by the day each one appeared.1

04 · Reach

Which of your partners already has a way in.

Monition reads your CRM, read-only, to find the partner with the shortest path to each company: someone they know there, or someone who knows someone. If the company is already a client, the relationship partner gets an alert instead.

05 · Introduce

A draft the partner edits, signs and sends.

Monition drafts a short note that cites the public records, never the forecast. The partner rewrites what they like and sends it from their own email. Monition never sends anything.

Human checkpoints

Two decisions stay with your firm.

Monition prepares the evidence and the draft. Your conflicts team clears every company first, and a partner decides what is sent.

Getting started

What Monition needs from your firm, and what it never asks for.

Setup is a working session with your business development and risk teams, not an integration project.2
Onboarding · practices to watch, a read-only CRM connection, a partner for each practice.1

What it needs

  • The practices to watch, and any companies or sectors to watch closely
  • Read-only access to your CRM, or a spreadsheet of relationships
  • A named partner for each practice you want watched
  • Your conflicts team’s usual process. Monition waits for it
  • A short weekly review with each of those partners

What it never asks for

  • Client files or privileged documents
  • Access to anyone’s email. Partners send from their own
  • Data about individuals. Monition covers organisations only
  • A fee per introduction. It is a flat fee per firm4

Questions

What partners and risk teams ask first.

Where does Monition get its data?
From public records only: court dockets, company and charges registers, property registers, annual accounts and regulator notices. Your CRM is read, never written to, and only to find which partner has a way in.
How is a forecast different from a record?
A record already names the company. A forecast says a company is likely to need counsel before any record names it, and shows the signals behind that. Every screen labels which one you are looking at.
Can a draft mention the forecast?
No. Drafts cite public records only. The forecast stays inside your firm.
What if the company is already our client?
The relationship partner gets an alert about the record. The company is never approached as new business.
Does Monition send anything?
No. A partner edits, signs and sends every note from their own email. Monition has no way to send on its own.
Does it cover individuals?
No. Organisations only. Individuals, consumer debtors and sole traders are excluded before anything reaches your team.
How will we know the forecasts are any good?
Every forecast is scored against what later appears in the public record, misses included, in a week-8 scorecard for each firm. How scoring works
What happens to our data?
It stays yours: read-only access, never pooled with another firm’s, never used for training. Data and security

The next filing is already on the record. Hear about it first.
